search engine这个东西很久以前就有了，就是在门户网站上那一个小小的搜索条。
在google之前根本没有人在意这个小东西。
google与之前其他做search engine的公司不同之处是：google是犹太公司，而犹太人
最擅长的就是点石成金。
其实点石成金的秘密很简单：只有让大多数人认为石头就是金子，那就点石成金了。
也就是说只要洗脑成功，石头就是金子。有趣的是，facebook也是犹太公司，这个绝对
不是偶然。
search engine有啥用呢？search本身是很用的，比如我想找文件，就在windows里面
search.

而且似乎很多人都对单独的x1 desktop search评价最高，但是x1 desktop search不是免
费的。很想试试copernic desktop search，但是这是一家小公司，好像刚被mamma.com收

如果你不是analytics组的，去了ads其实也就是学一下怎么做web application，ads
searving, tracking, etc. search的话要更self-contain一些，可以直接学到核心，
如果是真的search组而不是search quality组的话。只要是internet company都会需
要search的。就算不做search，学到的coding/algorithm/design skills也是可以
用在其它地方的。其实你这两个选择都很好，问我的话我都很喜欢。只不过如果非要
在中间选一个的话我会选search。 |

Not by search directly
but by AI aided search, AI may use Google or whatever database on the
internet, just like WolframAlpha.
Imagine，you don't need search google and find the answer from many web
pages returned. You just need to ask a question and get the answer, AI does

I think this is how Apple is going to reinvent search, may or may not kill
Google, but definitely will have an impact.

The search committee members are selected or propose to volunteer at a
faculty meeting, what if the chair's, let us say, enemies, control in the
search committee? How does the department chair get his/her candidate
accepted by the search committee, if the committee's recommended candidates
are different from the chair's?

chair。
如果是大系，招人领域的一小簇人组成一个search committee，由某个senior faculty
做chair。
无论是那种情况下，search committee的权力都很大的。我上面的回复没有说search
committee没有权力。 |
